What’s Really Holding You Back from Living Your Dream Life?

What’s Really Holding You Back from Living Your Dream Life?

Many of us have a clear vision of the life we want to live—freedom, abundance, fulfillment—but something keeps us from fully stepping into it. If you’re a female entrepreneur feeling stuck, it’s not because you’re incapable or unworthy. It’s likely because an unseen subconscious barrier is holding you back. Let’s explore what that might be and how you can overcome

1. The Fear of Failure (Could be particularly prevalent if you have gate 32 in your human design)

“What if I try and it doesn’t work?”

How to Heal It:

  • Reframe Failure:

Shift your mindset from failure as final to failure as feedback. For example, instead of saying, “I failed at launching my product,” try, “I learned what doesn’t work and can adjust my approach.” Keep a journal of lessons learned—it will help you see progress even in challenges.

  • Take Action in Small Steps:

Fear often grows when a task feels overwhelming. Break your goal into bite-sized steps and focus on completing one at a time. Celebrate these small wins to build confidence.

  • Practice Self-Compassion:

Remind yourself that everyone, even the most successful entrepreneurs, experiences setbacks. What matters is how you respond and grow from them.

2. The Fear of Success

“What if I can’t handle the pressure or lose relationships because of my success?”

Expanded How to Heal It:

  • Identify the Root Fear:

Ask yourself: What specific aspect of success scares me? Is it the fear of increased responsibility, losing relationships, or being judged? Understanding the root can help you address it.

  • Set Boundaries for Balance:

Success doesn’t mean sacrificing your well-being. Plan how you’ll maintain balance, such as scheduling time for rest, setting work limits, or enlisting support.

  • Visualise Empowering Scenarios:

Create a mental picture of a successful life that feels joyful and manageable. For example, imagine running a thriving business while having time for family and self-care.

3. Perfectionism

“I can’t move forward until it’s absolutely perfect.”

Expanded How to Heal It:

  • Set Realistic Standards:

Recognise that perfection isn’t achievable. I always remember one of my mentors telling me that 7 out of 10 is good enough. Shift your focus to creating something valuable rather than flawless. For example, aim for good enough to serve your audience rather than impeccable in every way.

  • Time-Box Your Efforts:

Allocate a set amount of time for tasks and commit to finishing within that timeframe. This practice trains you to prioritize action over endless tweaking.

  • Seek Feedback Early:

Share your work with trusted peers or clients before it’s “perfect.” Their input can help you refine your offering without getting stuck in perfectionist paralysis.

4. Old Beliefs and Emotional Wounds

“Why does this always feel so hard for me?”

How to Heal It:

  • Rewrite Limiting Beliefs:

Identify beliefs that aren’t serving you, like “I’m not good enough” or “Success is for others, not me.” or perhaps you believe there always has to be struggle. Replace them with empowering affirmations, such as “I am capable of creating success on my own terms.” or I let go of struggle and welcome ease into my life and business. Repeat these affirmations daily to rewire your mindset.

  • Practice Inner Child Healing:

Sometimes, fears stem from past experiences. Write a letter to your younger self, offering the reassurance and encouragement they needed at the time.

  • Consider Professional Support:

Working with a coach, therapist, or healer can help you uncover and release emotional blocks more effectively than trying to do it alone.

5. Lack of Clarity

“I want something different, but I’m not sure what it looks like.”

How to Heal It:

  • Create a Vision Board:

Use images, quotes, and symbols that represent your dream life and business. This exercise activates your subconscious mind, helping you focus on what you want.

  • Journal Your Ideal Day:

Write out a detailed description of a day in your dream life. Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? This clarity will act as a roadmap.

  • Use Tools for Clarity:

  • Experiment with Small Changes:

If you’re unsure what you want, try new things. Sign up for a class, network in a different circle, or test a small business idea. Clarity often comes from action.
